General Information of the Program
1. Majors and Research Areas:
a) Computer software and theory (Software engineering and system software, Intelligent software and requirement engineering, Cloud computing and pervasive computing, Programming language and program analysis, Databases & data mining, Natural language processing, Network information processing and information security, Computer graphics and human computer interaction, Software theory and computational complexity theory, Algorithmic game theory and computational economics)
b) Computer architecture (Hardware-software co-design, Computer network and distributed system, Edge intelligent computing system)
c) Computer applications (Artificial intelligence and media computing, Visual big data and brain-like computing, Computer graphics and data visualization)

4. Teaching language can be English or Chinese (chosen by students).
Application Prerequisites
1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport. Residents of mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan who have emigrated to other countries and are applying to Peking University as international students must present valid passport or citizenship documents dating from before April 30, 2015, along with proof of cancellation of Chinese nationality.
2. Applicants for Master's program must have attained a bachelor's degree and students who graduated from non-Chinese universities must hold a bachelor's degree from a university accredited by the Ministry of Education of China. (Grade skipping or joining in the middle of the course is not acceptable)
3. The applicant's academic performance, academic level and language ability should meet the admission requirements of the major he/she is applying for.

The Checklist of Application Materials
1. Peking University Application Form for International Students (Master and Ph.D. Programs) with an ID photo. Please visit http://www.studyatpku.com, fill in the application form and submit, then print a hardcopy.
2. Graduation certificate and degree diploma (Students expecting to graduate should provide an official letter stating expected graduation date), must be original documents or certified copies either in Chinese or English.
3. Official transcripts of your academic achievement up to present, including courses taken and level achieved, must be original documents or certified copies either in Chinese or English.
4. A personal statement (1500 words for master program, including a brief introduction of your current institution/alma mater, such as ranking within the country/state and how GPA is being calculated).Please click here to download the template.
5. Two recommendation letters from professors or associate professors related to your major (or equivalent professionals from relevant academic title.). The format of the recommendation letter must be original documents either in Chinese or English.Pleaseclick here to download the template.(Recommendation letter can also be sent to the e-mail address postgraduate@pku.edu.cn directly by the recommender.)
6. Applicants whose mother tongue is not English are required to submit TOEFL iBT (100 points or above) or IELTS (6.5 points and above) or GRE (315 points or above) scores to prove their English language proficiency.
7. One photocopy of your valid passport (passport type must be ordinary).
8. Table of contents and abstracts of your academic publications and any other original achievement in your field.
9. Curriculum vitae (CV) or resume.
Note: Two copies of all application materials are required, one original and one photocopy. None of the materials submitted will be returned.

Application Fee
There is a non-refundable application fee of 800 RMB or equivalent US dollars. International applicants are required to use the online payment while applying through the PKU online application system.
Initial Screening
The eligibility of all the applicants will be evaluated by the Admission Committee, organized by Department of Computer Science and Technology, School of Electronics Engineering and Computer Science. Based on the application deadline, the committee will select qualified applicants and schedule an interview in either January or March, 2021. Please refer to the School of Electronics Engineering and Computer Science website for the interview time, applicants who are selected for interview will also be notified through email.
Interview
An interview is required before an applicant can be admitted, including Q&A on personal scientific research experience and research achievement, personal acknowledgement and perspective related to the research area of the program, research plan and initial career path plan. The Admission Committee will give a comprehensive evaluation for applicants and submit the admission recommendation to the Graduate School of Peking University.
Admission
After the interview, International Students Division will notify successful candidates accepted to our program viahttp://www.isd.pku.edu.cn. The admission letter will be mailed in late June 2021 together with other necessary documents for the visa application.
Registration
Registration time is September 2021,and students will study and live in either Changping New Campus or the Yanyuan Campus(It will be specified in the Letter of Admission)
Tuition and Scholarship
The tuition fee of the Master program is RMB 50,000 Yuan per year, and RMB 150,000 Yuan in total for three years.
Admitted students are encouraged to apply for the following scholarships.
1. Chinese Government Scholarship. The scholarship application should be directed to the Chinese Embassy or Consulate in the applicant’s home country. Please find out the application deadline for your country in advance. Part of the tuition fee and some other fees like dormitory fees, allowance and insurance can be covered if the application is successful.
2. Beijing Government Scholarship for International Students. Please contact theInternational Students Division at Peking University for details of this scholarship.

Degree Requirements
Students are required to successfully complete all course work, a Master thesis and the defense of the thesis within the required time period. After meeting all above requirements and with the approval of University Degree Committee, the Master's Degree in Computer Science at Peking University will be awarded.
